ANS2:My iPod just was replaced. I restored from iTunes and everything but for a few pass-worded settings were restored to the same as the old one. If you mean that you are contemplating restoring it to factory settings...then, yes, it will wipe the unit. You would want to restore it to factory default if you are planning to sell it so your personal data won't be on it.
