Why not? If you can do the math, civil engineering is interesting, challenging, pays well and is always in demand.

No, the pay is not well and you still stand a chance of being unemployed after your studies. I am a Chartered Engineer with an M.Sc, a B.Sc and four A levels but still earn below 30K. I've spent many months unemployed between projects and work for managers that took an easier path but have greater rewards. My advice to anyone with a keen interest in maths is to choose something easier.

It's true that the work can be extremely interesting but when you constantly struggle to pay all the bills you start thinking was it really worth it.

You can be an engineer after only 4 years of college. For professions like medicine and law you require several years of graduate studies and often some internship.
