Why does my car shuts off randomly when i turn the steering wheel and apply the brakes the same time?

Check for vac. leaks, possibly the vac hose on the cruise switch at the brake pedal.

∙ 13y agoThe idle is not being increased high enough. There is a bad sensor if it is a ecu driven vehicle or if its a carb motor idle needs increased.

There is a magnetic switch in the steering lock/ key switch. If it is weak it will do that. If it dose leave the key on for 10 min. The light will quit blinking, turn key off and start motor. This is a dealer fix. Parts are up ward of $700. I just wait the 10 and go on my way

Have you checked for recalls on your model year. I have a f350 2001 and it did the same thing until I had my cam position sensor replaced works fine now.

Have you tried pushing the button to the left of the steering wheel? the one that shuts the lights off when they are on. if that doesnt work, if you have an aftermarket radio, and the adapter for the security, that might be why.
