Feces is one of the most noxious smelling substances known to man. It gets it's unpleasant odor from all the bacteria attached to it. Furthermore, evolutionists believe that feces smells so that humans know to keep away from it, and that that trait evolved in humans.

The faeces that you excrete through your anus from the rectum may give of a bad smell due to the unwanted nutrients that are within the faeces. Unwanted products such as plant fibres is what makes the smell.

The trillions of microorganisms that live in your gut (and the guts of other animals) produce a number of sulfurous compounds (especially Methanethiol) that pass out of the body along with the feces and give it its characteristic odor. Scientists have noted a number of things that almost universally elicit disgust among humans: bodily wastes and fluids, wounds, dead bodies, certain animals, spoiled food, and people with poor hygiene. All of these relate to a risk of exposure to infections - so since feces tend to have elements of all these we seem to have developed an aversion to the smell (think it stinks) as a defense mechanism to avoid infection.

∙ 9y agoThere could be a number of things that can cause feces to smell like metal such as if you are detoxing or if ketone bodies are being excreted in your stools. Also eating garlic can cause your feces to smell like metal.
