Check and see if the water line going from the dishwasher to the disposal has enough slack to run up and over the connection to the disposal. If its just running along the cabinet floor and straight up into the disposal that's the problem. Its called an anti siphon loop
your drain is pluged somewhere below your dish washer pull the p trap aprt and check that
Make sure the dishwasher drain tube is up high between the D/W and the garbage disposal. It is supposed to be just under the countertop.
There is something stuck in the drain.
Yes the outlet for the dishwasher should be on the same side as the disposal,so the disposal can handle the waste water from the dishwasher.
The disposal has to be in place so that the drain on the dishwasher is connected. If you do not have a disposal or are removing it, there is a extension tube for the drain that has the dishwasher tube in it. The disposal does not have to work for the dishwasher to drain. The water is run through the disposal so that any food particles get ground before going in the drain. After a while, the disposal will begin to smell if it is not run.
Check the air vent tube under sink make sure it is connected properly or water will back up into dishwasher
The pump in the dishwasher should keep the water from getting into it.
Yes, the air vent (air gap) is very much required!! It prevents water from traveling from the sink drain pipe or garbage disposal and into the dishwasher.
Yes if you do not you could break your garbage disposal.
If the tubing between dish washer and garbage disposal unit is newly installed then someone forgot to remove a plug. If it was working before then the flow from dishwasher to the garbage disposal is too slow resulting in this.
turn it on
