At five weeks old the puppies are getting old enough to be weened. She may just be telling them enough with the breast feeding already! Often a good mother will shut her pups off so they will move on to solid food. Otherwise the pups would most likely continue to nurse for years.
That doesn't sound good, please call your vet and ask him.
well a mother can attack her puppy because she might be rejecting the one week old puppy and if not then i would get some help with a vet
to be stern from the beginning
If the some of the puppies are stillborn, the mother may eat any them. If there are no stillborns, nothing will eat the puppies. ~
That is unlikely to happen but if so you should try to get the puppies to their mama if you can not?... that would be VERY bad!
If they were larger, they would not fit in the mother's womb, and they would not be able to fit out of the mother dog when they were being born.
Lab puppies would not come out of a miniature pinscher unless the dog mated with a lab. If this is so, then the puppies would be a mix and the dogs sizes will suit their mother.
As long as the mother is in apparent good health there is nothing to worry about. The only concern would be for the mother as the venom could not be passed through the milk.
its not recomended. the mother will become worried and begin looking for her puppies everywhere. it wont be a break for her. and the puppies will be whinning constantly for milk. the puppies might also die without food. the mother and pups would probably be okay with an hour or two away from each other
You can hold them as much as you like. If the puppies are being raised without their mother they are lacking the physical contact they would normally have with her. You will be replacing the mother so more is better.
Somtimes yes somtimes no but if the mother of the puppies is dead then yes if the mother of the puppies rejects her puppys then yes if the mother allows her to be around yes. but if the mother of the puppys snarls and growles no take the other pregnet dog away for the mother and her puppys. Female dogs are very moody when they have puppys and very protective, Just like wolves and there puppys!
There is only one answer....no. Why would you want to pass on the aggression? Maybe it is genetic or environmental but don't take the chance. Spay this bad girl and do not breed her.
If the mother killed it, the puppy may have been touched, and sometimes mothers won't take care of puppies that don't smell as she does, and so she may try being to protect the remaining puppies.
* i would certainly hope not however I have seen dogs that get aggressive towards their pups/ dogs and have attempted to harm them ** Yes, if they are stressed, or if they haven't had good parenting themselves. Parenting, even among dogs, is learned behaviour. If a mother dog is harming the new puppies, she might easily cause their death. On the other hand, removing the puppies could cause the mother to reject them. It's very difficult to know whether to step in and take the puppies or remove the mother. Sometimes it's enough to put the mother in a separate area for a while, where she can see the puppies but not reach them physically. The best course of action when a mother dog is acting aggressively towards her puppies is to call a vet for advice on the particular situation.
It could be rough mating, as geckos do. All you can do for sure is separate them. Of course, if you do, they may stop mating afterward.
