Reasons for a mother dog to commit infanticide include:
Accidental: Dogs can accidentally kill their puppies by lying on one that has slipped underneath them.
Stress: Stressed mothers may kill their puppies when they can not find a quiet, secluded place to take care of them or when the liter is too large for them to handle.
Illness or perceived damage: A mother dog will alienate and often kill a sickly puppy. Sometimes she may also kill pups that are returned to her after being altered, (docking etc.); perhaps seeing them as damaged and unable to survive. The mother herself may have an illness such as mastitis which makes it very painful for her to nurse her young.
Lack of experience: Inexperienced young mothers may not know how to take care of a litter. Others may not recognise the puppies as their own and may mistake them for prey.
Instability: There are also mentally unstable dogs.
If it is a dog other than the dam killing the puppies, usually this is due to the dog seeing the puppies as invaders of their territory.
no, y would it? It could even help them.
Yes as long as its not storming out, dogs are fine
Ok, If your talking about dog pups, then YES!!!! Totally! If it's about seals, Pretty much. If your talking about wolves, Yep!
are you insane???? Hahahahahahah!!! No!! The dog would die :(
It depends on what you mean by kind. They are kind to their pups but would kill anything that would harm those pups. You, as a human, would not be able to call to one and have it come like a dog. They would see you as a threat and if cornered would fight and bite. They are wild animals and could have rabies.
No. That's how she deals with the cord. If pups start bleeding from the base of the cord(rare), see her vet.
Usually a father dog does not know his pups
It is usually 5 - 8 weeks. but the bigger the pp the longer it feeds
you do not have to but the pups would make you a lot of money.
Hi, I would Like To Know if my dog is going to have her pups because she is lactating?
Almost nothing. Mother dogs are very good to their pups, and are protective of them until they are old enough to be self-sufficient (6 months?). Did this happen to you? I have to disagree with this answer...I have seen many mother dogs kill and eat their pups. They will do this because of instinct. You may not be able to tell there is something wrong with them but the mother knows. If they are ill or have internal issues the mother will sometimes kill them and again sometimes eat them. It is very disgusting but its their nature.
it wont reatch that height because it has gust had pupes
