Why would a 1984 Buick Skylark 6 cylinder overheat in idle park or neutral?

If it does not heat up driving check your fan it may not be working. the fan pulls air through the radiator when the car is not moving when the car is moving air flow through with no problem.
you may find that the engine thermostat is stuck closed when the engine gets warm the thermostat is supposed to open to let the warm water out or one other thing that will do this is the engine is out of time have it checked good luck
Im afraid one of the head gaskets are leaking. Ive had the same problem with my 81 skylark.But have a look at the fan and thermostat first. good luck
