Sometimes Disk drives don't read disks due to virus or Scratches on the disk. Best to check the disk first to see any scratches or dirt. if not it may be because of a virus or worm. Best to check that out as well, Goodluck!
It is possible that the drive may not be fast enough, incompatible with, or the operating system incompatible with (or not having proper drivers for) the CD-ROM Disk Drive.
This is an issue with dvdrom in the xbox. The drive will likely have to be replaced. Try cleaning the dirve first. Walmart has cdrom and dvdrom cleaning disks for a cheap price. Insert it into the drive and allow it to cycle. There is audio content on the disk so if it plays, the drive should still be good. If not, and it rejects it, Replace the drive. Go on line to xboxguru.com and see if they have a replacement drive. The average 50 to 75 bucks.
CDs were made earlier than DVDs. CDs were a new version of the very old black disks. DVDs were invented later, DVDs are put in a rectangler box because it was an earlier version of a video tape.
After awhile your disk drive cams will fail and therefore wont open or close the drive. You should stop slamming it shut and just press the button to close the drive.
you can format your drive from DOS, but once you do that you wont have an operating system and your computer will be useless.
iv had this problem on my x-box 1 i just unpluged it and pluged ith back in again
The benefits of having a recovery disk is if your computer hard drive is badly damaged it can allow a client to quickly recover there unit back to day one or factory settings. Not having this disc can leave a customer with a computer that wont boot up if damaged.
You can buy a scratch repairer for disks or alternativly you can take it into your local gaming shop. I had a laser burnt disk, brought it into game and they repaired it from £5.00
if you have a mac, it wont work, if you have a PC then you insert the disk into a drive, then the installation should load. if it doesn't then try going on My Computer, then your disk drive that you put your Halo CD in, and it should load.
AnswerIt may be quite possible that your CD-Drive was not equipped with a +RW reading feature. The CD may not also be recognized due to an over excessive amount of scratches on the reverse side of the disk. Try checking your CD-Drive capabilities. Some CD-Drive disc readers may also only read DVD+R Disc's. That could also be why. The above is a terrible answer. Yes its possible but not likely that the drive is not capable of RWs, but most computers made in the last 7 or so years are. And there are no drives that will read DVDs only but NOT read CDRWs. Drives that could burn CDs came first, and later when the DVD writing drive came out they all had the ability to do CDs too. Also they never actually answer the question of why the drive wont recognize the RW discs if its supposed to but wont. Where do you get these people?
What i did was i looked it up but it said to take the xbox apart because the laser was stuck..... but i wasnt about to take my whole xbox apart so i pressed the open/close button about 15 times and that worked for me..... hope it works for you
Do you mean add a disk to an already existing raid array, or can you have more than the 3 disk minimum? Either way, yes you can, though I find if you already have raid 5 setup with 3 disks and you want to add another one you are better off starting it all over from scratch again. As far as I can remember, I may be wrong, but all the disks have to be equal. You cant have a three 40GB drives at 5400rpm and then add in a new drive off 120GB at 7200rpms. And are you using a raid 5 hardware option or software option. If your doing it via hardware you may need to upgrade your disk controller. And dont forget your going to have convert your new disk when you get it. Drives are usually basic, raid5 wont work on a basic disk. Actually you can add disparaging disks to an array but you'll only get the capacity of the existing disks in the array - therefore in the above setup, adding the 120Gb@7200rpm wouldn't give you the capacity of the 120Gb, only an additional 40Gb.
