The Titanic was so famous for being "unsinkable," gigantic, and supposedly "The Ship of Dreams." It would've been one of the most famous ships to travel by, and would've made White Star even more famous. It would've been famous, except for the "unsinkable" ship sank.

Titanic was the one of the largest passenger steamships built at Harland & Wolff inBelfast and the ship was going to be unsinkable. Sadly it hit the iceberg and proved that it was not unsinkable. It was an important event because so many people died when the ship sank, partly because of the lack of lifeboats, after the sinking no ship was allowed to set sail unless there were enough lifeboats for everyone on the ship. It was called one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters.

The Titanic was a extra special ship. It was the largest ever to be constructed. It was she was superior in size, luxury and elegance to any other ship. The Titanic set out on its first journey, the maiden voyage. Due to a devastating disaster, the Titanic once again made front page, only this time for all the wrong reasons! Between 2223-2228 people were onboard the ship when it collided with an iceberg when crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Only 20 lifeboats were on the ship which could contain approximately 1178 people.

Originally the ship was meant to hold 32 lifeboats but was reduced as it made the deck look cluttered. It was a disgrace that the designer/owner cared more about looks than the lives of the passengers. As the Titanic slowly sank, the first lifeboat was lowered into the water. They were filled with women and children as they were first priority. The largest percentage of survivors were 1st class passengers. Some lifeboats were being sent out with only at least 20 people when it could have held about 65 people.

The tht make me remember the titanic was that it sunk on its first voyage. I belive this was because the stress being held by the owner because everyone wanted to be on the ship. They probably thought nothing critically bad would happen until there was nothing left to do
