The Taft-Harley act of 1947 was one of more than 250 union-related bills pending on both houses of Congress. It was a response to rising union radicalism and Cold War hostilities. It was also response to business to the post World-War II labor upsurge of 1946. It was seen as a means of demoblizing the labor movement by imposing limits on labor's abilit to strike and by prohibintg radicals from their leadership (<-- People who were typically more involved in union activites) Simply put; So many people came from fighting in the War that everyone finally wanted to settle down and make a living. America would've been in turmoil if strikes would have come up because there was just THAT many people in the union of laborers! Hope this helped!
