Because victory in the war was paramount, the government issued rations so that the military would receive the necessary materials needed to fight the Nazis. Every citizen had to do their part, be it fighting on the front lines by enlisting or being drafted or doing what they could on the homefront to help out.

∙ 13y agoMost things came from abroad in world war two so the Germans (Nazis) bombed the docks so that we couldn't have food and stave us to death but if the bombing isn't right and it bombs something else the German submarines would sink the ships so that we still couldn't have anything to eat. The only food we had in places like London was food sent up by train from the countryside but it didn't always make it either because one of Germans targets like the docks were the train stations and Bridges and the railway track so that they could still stave to death in London. The rationing started in 8 January 1940and finished on the 1954. It was hard living in England in world war two.

∙ 13y agoLike the time frame of many wars, supplies were limited. In order to fairly distribute the items in short supply, rationing was introduced. That prevented prices from going too high and the rich from being able to corner the market on goods. It help make sure that the troops had the things that they needed to fight.
