Uric acid is not very soluble in water, however water is the only way that it can be eliminated from the body. By drinking a lot of water you are enabling more uric acid to be removed with urine, sweat and via the large intestine.

Gout patients should drink water to maintain high levels of fluid to help in the dilution of compounds in the body to be released in urine. This helps to lower the build up of uric acid crystals in the blood and deposits at joints and other pain sites.
