The Rumba is a street dance that evolved out of Cuba. Another form of street dance called Ballroom Rumba evolved outside of Cuba and was not the same as traditional Rumba. Ballroom Rumba was later reinvented as a modern dance by Monsieur Pierre. The modern dance became the most popular dance and thus the international identity of "The Rumba".
