Because Neptune is so far away from the sun, it isn't getting that much sunlight- even when it orbits the whole sun!

because,neptune is farthest from the sun through which completely sun rays does not able to reach to inner atmosphere of neptune so neptune absorbs very less heat ,but during nighttime it radiates lot of heat.

Neptune is the coldest planet because it is the farthest from the sun and has bright thick clumps of dust called the arcs.

It could be because it is the coldest.

It has an internal heat source which makes it hotter inside than the inside of Uranus, but it has (just about) got the lowest surface temperature.

In fact, Uranus and Neptune have almost the same average surface temperature.

Sometimes it's said that Uranus is the coldest planet.
