The all-wise God, who created the family in the first place knows the great things that can come out of families either for good or evil. It is the place where precious lives are taught the ways of God both by word and especially by example. It is the place where love and forgiveness and order and respect and so many other values that make a young Christian person who devotes their life to God's service also a good citizen.

It is also the best place for the myriad of childlike and not-so-childlike questions to be answered and encouraged and where a child learns to investigate and discover and appreciate the orderly world made by an orderly and wise creator who is also in time to become their redeemer.

Family life is important to Christians because it is where love, forgiveness, and respect are taught. A family is grounded by their beliefs and values, which makes them strong and a family is a blessing.

There is no real evidence that families are any more important to Christians than any other group. No matter how you divide the population up - atheist, Christian, Rastafarian, bald, tattooed, short, poor, rich, any racial group - some of the members will have excellent family ties and others will be totally dysfunctional. If all Christians saw family life as important there would be no Christians guilty of spousal abuse, child abuse, murder of relatives etc.

The family is the basic unit of the Church. If families have a strong Catholic life, the Church is strong.

Why is Christianity so important to Christians?

Because it is the only way to be saved from our sins. God's own son (Jesus) came to earth as a baby, grew up in a poor family, and eventually was unjustly killed, and rise on the third day. He planned this all, so that he could atone for our sins and give us eternal life in heaven.
