which in turn leads to suspicion and, eventually, to war.

Life on EarthLife on Earth is possible because of a coincidental combination of factors:
  • The habitable zone: Earth is at the right distance from the Sun to have liquid water on its surface, and for the atmosphere to be at a reasonable temperature for life to occur. It also doesn't stray too far from the optimal distance, making the temperature stable.
  • Stable planet: we aren't inundated with lava every day. This gives life the chance to happen without being destroyed instantaneously.
  • Water: we have it. necessary for life.
  • Atmospheric composition: began with plenty of carbon oxides and simple organic compounds with very little free oxygen; an important atmosphere for abiogenesis.

Plenty of other factors matter as well.

Life only on EarthEarth is currently the only planet known to support life in any form. Because of the existence of millions or billions of other planets, and the fact that we have not - indeed, cannot - inspect all of them means we will never know for sure the exact number that do support life. Many have one or two or some of the necessary conditions for life, but none have so far been discovered (of the few hundred we know) that have all of the necessary factors. Life only on EarthSome good points have been mentioned here but there are literally hundreds of things that make Earth just right for life. Here is a few to add:
  • Axial tilt. Our planet has a reasonable and more importantly quite stable tilt to it (around 23-24 degrees off axis). This lets the weather be relatively stable and thus becomes a candidate for life.
  • Composition of the planet and its atmosphere. We need water, carbon, hydrogen, oxides (like oxygen gas and ozone), carbon oxides, and nitrogen gas and more.
  • An iron core; our planet would be harmed by the suns radioactive rays without an iron core to protect us (mostly).
  • The planet had to be stable for at least 100 million years for life to form - most planets would not follow this.
  • We need a moon that is about 1/3 the size of Earth to regulate our orbit.
  • Earth's path has to be a good ellipse around the sun.
  • Earth has to be the right size and not moving too fast.
  • and and

Yes because it helps us breathe and helps us survive the roughness in life today also helps the flowers grow and make life come to life like for instance grass is still living today if it weren't for earth than I don't know where we would be now

Well, Earth is the only planet known that has living things, because the atmosphere and the temperature has to be just right so that we don't freeze or be burned up. Like if we lived on Mercury, we would not survive because one, there is no atmosphere so we would be exposed to the vacuum of space, and two, its too close to the sun. I think 93,000,000 miles from the sun is good enough for humans to live. Also, we need oxygen to breathe, and all the planets that are known have no oxygen on it.

Well, the earth is in a position where the sun can reach to it and the Earth is just right..... meaning it's not too hot or not too cold. if it was too cold than we would die. if it was too hot, well, you know, we would also................ DIE. This is why we are the only life in our solar system, because all the other planets are too hot or too cold!Although you think it's in one position only, you're wrong. The planets are always orbiting around the sun, including earth. That's why in the summer it is hot, because when it's orbiting, the earth is closest to the sun at the time. in the winter, it is the coldest because the earth is farthest from the sun when it's orbiting.Of course, the sun is not big enough to cover the whole earth at once. now, if the earth was flat, and was all on one side, then it could. Half of the earth is night time. at the same time the other half of the earth is day time. science the earth circles around fully once a day, the side on the earth that was night time now is day time because it circled to the other side. then, the side that was day time now is night time because that side has circled around and switched

Because on other planets we know of there is no evidence of oxygen in the atmosphere or much liquid water on the surface on any of the other planets to support life. Also it is often too cold or too hot on other planets or they are too big or too small so no life forms as we know them could live there.

Hi, Sorry to say that I am not not agreeing with you personally about this question. I believe there will be small pulse of life out there in the horizons But scientifically the factors which keeps our earth alive the unique distance from from Sun, gravitation, atmosphere and all.... And who can say that there wont be a planet which will be same like our Earth in these Billions of Astrological bodies?

Because the earth is the only planet which have all necessary creatira to devloment of life.

For sustaining life we need some cretaria like

Correct temprature

Protection from Sun UV rays

Water

all fundamental inorganic miolecules e.g. Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen etc.

Outer air cover on earth also help to protect the life.

Oxygen in sufficient amount is good for life.

All planets rotate.

Some rotate in a retrograde motion compared to Earth. Venus and Uranus rotate in a retrograde motion.
