The Earths surface is covered by 80% water. 97% is saltwater and 3% is fresh water. Of this 3%, 68.7% of the available drinkable water is locked up in ice frozen near the north and south poles making it unaccessable to most of the world. See the related link for more information.

∙ 11y agocuz we humans are very complex so we can only drink clean water but since there is polution we can no longer drink water from a stream or lakes or rivers and stuff like that. you could drink ocean water but that would taste horrible. :D
Some people in certain geographical areas haven't the means to access fresh water supplies or to treat the water for human consumption.
