Because Walmart is the leading supermarket chain. However it buys mainly from offshore. So basically, all the money Americans spend at walmart goes to china.
Say, were playing monopoly. Everytime I buy property I throw that money away. We will call the floor China. So by the time I buy all the property on the board all the money is in China. Now every time you land on a space, or say shop a space, I keep that money. We will call you America.
Also, most people who work at walmart shop at walmart because most walmart employees don't have much money and walmart is cheap. So that money doesn't go back into the economy except for bills.
There you have it.
So here is the cycle at a glimpse
Money>You>Walmart>China

To give an idea of why this is a big deal, walmart/sams club employs more people than the us government, that includes the military. Also when walmart donates money, they get a tax break. That tax money is basically taken from U.S. and given to China.
Because they are good at selling products and making money. They do what every other business strives to do, but a few people seem to have a problem with the fact that they do it so well.
Walmart does nothing fundamentally different than any other business from Mom and Pop grocery stores to mechanic shops - that is to say they provide a service or sell a product for a profit and strive to reduce costs.
Before Walmart changed all its stores you could go with a list a get 90 % of what you wanted. Now I'm lucky to get 20% of what I want. The only problem I had before the changes is they weren't consistant with what they carried. When they had a close-out you got a great buy. Now things are marked down a dollar or less with a few exceptions. They seem to be more into groceries, which I find not that great of a deal with exception of course.

People will have their own opinions about this. In my opinion, Walmart is not good for the economy. They have put many stores out of business and that is not a good thing.

The South's economy was ruined. The war had taken place on Southern land, ruining all of the farmland. And since the South had put all of their eggs in the farming basket, they were doomed.

by giving its customers free products. amen.
ObamaCare is not ruining the economy. The government shutdown, the sequester, and the threat of defaulting on the debt by refusing to raise the debt ceiling are ruining the economy. Another answer: Obamacare is causing many problems. Businesses are closing down because they cannot afford it, people's hours are being cut back, and the thing is showing to be difficult to implement. 60% of the American people want nothing to do with this act. It was supposed to lower health costs, but in fact costs are rising dramatically. The government shutdown was not ruining anything .. We take in enough in taxes to pay our debt. The people that fought the good fight against him are to be appauded.
No. Congress is ruining America.
