To get it to creep into nooks and crannies well it has a fair percentage of solvents and other chemicals too. These greatly degrade the lubricating properties when compared to a regular oil.

What is the best hinge lube to use wd40 pf gt85?

Neither is the best lubricant for hinges (actually WD40 is more of a penetrant, not a lubricant). If they're all you have use the GT85, but if you have Tri-Flow (best) or plumber's grease (second best) use it instead. Probably vegetable oil would be better than GT85 but it will turn rancid.

Can you use gasoline when lubricating a bike chain?

Definitely not. The gasoline will act as a solvent and disolve whatever lubricant may be on the chain. For the same reason, WD40 isn't a good lubricant. It will wash off any higher viscocity lubricant from the chain. The lubricating properties of the WD40 will wear off in no time. It's just best to use a high viscocity spray lube like Tri-Flo, Boe-shield, White Lightning, etc.

How do you open a jammed lock on a door knob?

Spray in dry graphite and work the key until it loosens up the lock (unless you have already sprayed in a liquid lube like WD40 which will only gum it up more) If you've already made this mistake, try spraying a little brake cleaner in the keyhole to clean off the WD40, then try the graphite WD40 is not a lubricant, WD40 was invented as a WATER DISPERSANT henc WD, 40 represents the 40th attempt. WD40.

Why would someone use lubricant for a bike?

One would use a lubricant to improve the mechanical part -- e.g. chain -- within a bike if it was starting to create friction/ increased wear and tear. A good lubricant to use would be something like WD40 as it would provide both lubricating properties and reduce the likely hood of rust.

Why won't interior lights turn off on 1997 Ford Expedition?

spray WD40 in the door latch mechanism, it will sometimes get stuck and the lubricant will free it up to engage when the door is closed.

What are some alternative uses for WD40 other than as a lubricant?

We use WD40 as a primer for starting an old mower engine when cold. A short spray is applied through the air intake to the carburetor WD40 works well as a grease remover on laundry. Just spray a greasy stain and wash with your regular laundry soap. It also removes gum from carpets and hair. You can remove price tags or tape residue as well.
