If you are referring to the Blessed Virgin Mary, she had been set aside by God long before she was even born to the the mother of his son. She was sinless at birth and continued sinless all her life. She answered God's call for her to bear his son. She was a living saint but woild have been declared as saint by popular acclamation after she left the earth because there was no formal canonization process at the time.

Saint Mary, aka The Blessed Virgin Mary, is considered a saint because according to Christianity, she, as a virgin, was chosen by God to give birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God through whose sacrifice humankind had been forgiven for their sins, and can now repent. She is a hugely important figure to all forms of Christianity, especially Catholicism, because she is the Mother of the Son of God, which might help to explain why she is considered a saint.

Catholics believe Mary was conceived without Original Sin, immaculately conceived Jesus, and lived a chaste and sinless life with Joseph . She was assumed, body and soul into Heaven, and is Queen of Heaven and All Saints.

Mary consented to become the mother of God's son. That, in itself, was sufficient grounds for her to be considered a saint.
