Why is Ponyboy afraid of some of the other greasers at the rumble?

Ponyboy needed to be at the rumble to show his solidarity with his fellow greasers. The greasers stood together as brothers against the society that looked down upon them much as low income youngsters do today. It was important that he participated in the fight to prove his loyalty.

Because they are more emotional than the others. They get upset easier and don't really enjoy doing the things that the other greasers do.
