Brutus is a tragic hero in Julius Caesar because he was more noble than evil, yet his fortunes go from good to bad, after the killing Caesar. He was known as one of the most honorable men in Rome by the people, but after he kills Caesar some people begin to think of him as a traitor. But Antony and Octavius treat his dead body in the end with respect and honor because even though his actions were influenced by a greater eveil his main purpose was honor and so he died for tyhe same purpose.

It depends on the definition you want to use of "tragic hero". But Cassius is not much of a hero anyway you look at it. He is jealous of Caesar, a kind of low snivelling attitude. He is constantly suggesting the politically realistic but very unheroic line to Brutus. After the murder, he uses his position for under-the-table benefits which Brutus deplores. He's a good soldier but no hero.

maybe because he dies while he is a great man and also when he says" you too brutus!then fall caesar." he makes the tragic feeling. brutus was his best friend and heiped in killing him he first stood against his murderers as they pushed knives ti his body but fell when he saw his friend among them.

Yes, Brutus would be considered a tragic hero. He was generally a good person, however he had many flaws, such as being naive. Ultimately, Brutus committed suicide.

If the definition of a tragic hero is a character with a lot of lines who ends up dead at the end of the play, Brutus fits the bill. So for that matter does Cassius. It was not important for Shakespeare to have a tragic hero in every tragedy--that concept arose long after he stopped writing.

Why is Creon the tragic hero in 'Antigone'?

Creon is not the tragic hero in "Antigone" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, a hero is the main character, the holder of great powers, and the doer of great deeds. That hero is tragic when his life takes an unfortunate turn. The description of the hero does not fit Theban King Creon, who is capable of no great deed or power. But the description of tragic does fit Creon, as a tragic figure in a tragic play about the tragedy of the tragic heroine Antigone.

Is Brutus displayed as a vilain or a hero?

In the play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, Brutus is displayed as a tragic hero. All tragic heroes are brought down by their own hubris and it is no different for Brutus in this play. Brutus, did of course, betray and murder his closest friend Julius Caesar, but he did so for what he believed to be noble purposes. Brutus did not kill, or more correctly participate in Caesar's murder, out of malice, he loved Caesar but loved the republic of Rome more. His actions were in the defense of the Republic of Rome and because Marcus Brutus was loved by the people of Rome, the murder of Caesar was more readily accepted by the people. Brutus' hubris was not that he killed Caesar but that he misjudged the characters of those around him. Brutus was an idealist and believed as much in the goodness of people as he did the Republic of Rome. He missed judged Cassius motives in the beginning of the play and later misjudged Marc Antony. Brutus own air of superiority is in the end what brought him down, but he is not a villain but rather a tragic hero.

Why is Julius Caesar considered a tragedy?

First thing to consider it that the title alone tells us the play will be a tragedy. Everyone dies at the play, yet we know that the Rome survives. Brutus must choose between his long time friend and the good of his beloved Rome. Shakespeare places the hero in a no win situation, it can only end in violence for Brutus.
