Autumn is happens because the Earth is on a axis which is on a angle i think 14 degrees and when it orbits the sun the further parts from the sun are cold Autumn and winter. when it around the other side of the sun that part of the earth is closer and it is hotter. Autumn is just the earths way of preparing for winter.
