Both Europe and Asia was one big continent named Eurasia, but later it was intended that there'd be 7 continents, and that Europe would end at the Ural Mountains in Russia. So the Ural Mountains was where Asia begins, becoming the world's largest continent while Europe becomes the 2nd smallest continent. Kazakhstan has a river which naturally borders between it's small European part and it's large Asian part including it's capitol, Astana.
