well, when ben first found the omnitrix, it was in a safeguard mode, (meaning it changed to look different, to protect itself as it was stolen by that alien) but when ben put it back on again, it triggered a reset, putting it back into the normal setting

Primus is a jungle like planet with mosquito-like creatures, called Voliticus Biopsis that are found abundantly. They act as drones and bring new DNA samples they have found to a volcano with green lava on the planet. The volcano is a database for all sentient beings in the Codon Stream. Asmuth states that without Primus, the Omnitrix would be useless. That is why the planet calls for the Omnitrix when the planet is in danger, such as when Vilgax attacked Primus.
