Cat Stevens wrote the lyrics for 'Cat in the Cradle', Harry Chapin cut it on the Verites and Balderdash album. It went gold in 1974 and was Chapins only hit. I'm told Stevens never cut CITC, but I think that's wrong. I believe I have the vinyl but I can't get to it right now.

Ray Stevens sang tuneful songs. Unlike much of today's music, Ray was a proper singer. He had a smooth voice and sang well-crafted songs which delighted his fans.
