Because the growing elves that live in the forest are friends with Father Time. They get together once a week and create growth dust. Then in the middle of the night they tunnel under your house and the elves dig up into your room then sprinkle the growth dust onto you. That is why you grow.

Humans take in oxygen and use it for their blood. In turn, they give off carbon dioxide. Plants do the exact opposite. They take in carbon dioxide, use it to make food inside of them, and then give off oxygen, which we humans need. Therefore, without plants, we would not survive because we would suffocate.

Plants compete with each other for water, nutrients, space and light. In order to compete for light, plants grow towards it, and the more water/nutrients they have, the more they can grow. :)

So, they grow to live and compete, basically.

Because if there were no plants or trees in the world, there would be no oxygen to breathe, and if we cut down every plant and every tree in the world it would completely ruin the ecosystem.
