I have the same problem. It appears to me after observing them for a while, that they are actually feeding. I have poplar trees around my house and in the fall these trees produce little "helicopter things" that spiral to the ground. (Sorry I do not know what they are actually called). They fall into my gutters and the birds get them and peck the end that contains the seed. I assume they are eating this seed.
I just saw a Blue Jay pecking at the ice in our bird bath, and it certainly looked like it was eating small pieces of it
Compared to all birds, with an ostrich as the largest-then yes. Compared to all common birds you can see daily-about average. You can always notice a cardinal by their red feathers!
This is always a problem. Hens dispense what is called the pecking order to every new flock member no matter what the size. The bigger birds are much stronger and their pecking will often be too much for the chicks who are not aware enough to run and seek shelter. It is often better to wait a month or more to introduce the new chicks to the main flock although this means keeping them separate. Another solution is to build a "shelter" out of carefully placed hay bales with small openings between bales big enough for the smaller birds to run into but small enough to keep the fatter hens out.
small cheeping birds
because the birds are small but the birds
yes, they have many small birds that belong to that specific habitat, but it is possible to find bigger birds such as hawks, that are feeding on the small birds
hummingbirds are the smallest birds.
Owls feed on mice and small birds.
Small birds or little birds
