I am doing an experiment on growing sunflowers in different lights. I am using red, blue and white. I need to know why the ones in the red light and white light are doing so good and the ones in the blue light have died. Can you give me some insight on this please
The three basic photon colors are red, blue, and green. Plants do not use green photons for photosynthesis (hence the plant's green color). The different wavelengths of red and blue light stimulate certain hormones in plants that allows them to germinate, grow, reproduce, and die.
That chlorophyll absorbs red better than blue or yellow (and therefore looks green) is the reason why red light makes plants grow faster.
Specifically, chlorophyll gets produced during a plant's growing season. It is involved in photosynthetic interactions with energizing sunlight. It makes plants grow vertically as opposed to horizontally. A sign of red-lighting a plant therefore will be maximum stem and minimum leaf growths.
Red light excites the electrons more and causes more chemical reactions to occur.
they grow in the light because they get their energy and food from the sunlight
Plants need photosynthesis to grow the sun makes that possible.
They use chlorophyl in their leaves to turn the light into glucose (food) and therefore with more light, they get more food, so grow faster.
from light and water not only light, but from light plants take the power of it
Only certain plants grow toward light ex. sunflowers some plants like tomatoes grow like the topsy turvey thing hangs tomatoes upside down they grow down not up and most time the light comes from the opposite way they are growing
Fluorescent light works for most of plants and even aquarium fish. But when it comes to special races of plants, such as mariguana or some philotherms, HPS or MH can achieve a better effect. Check the link below for more detail about fluorescent light.
yes
Sunlight.
Plants phtosynthesise to produce energy. Photosynthesis involves turning light energy into chemical energy (glucose) so plants grow towards light so that they can absorb more light and therefore produce more energy that they use to grow etc.
The more light there is, the more energy a plant can make through photosynthesis. That's why plants will always grow toward a light source when planted.
they grow better in regular sunlight because it is more natural
The color of a light does affect a plants growth. Plants absorb certain colors of light better than others, and, essentially, the more light a plant can absorb, the more it can grow.
Plants need more than light to grow, they also need water. The desert does not have sufficient water to support large plants except on an oasis.
Because plants use light as their food, the more light, the more they'll grow.
Can you grow plants with l e b light bulbs
UV light helps plants grow healthier and quicker. It is not required though for most plants to grow and survive.
from light and water not only light, but from light plants take the power of it
Plants have chloroplasts in them, this gives the distinct green colour we are familiar with. It also REFLECTS green light, hence you need other wavelengths of visible light for the plant to be able to grow.
Plants need light to grow at all. Except fungi.
No because light and water makes plants grow. (You need to go back to 1st grade)
