They provide almost zero energy, after fossil fuel backup is considered and they kill wildlife. 100K birds a year just in Massachusetts alone.
No power and high maintenance and zero fossil fuel savings make them a terrible idea.

∙ 7y agoWind turbines are good and bad for the environment, depending on your point of view and what is important to you.
They are good because the more wind energy we use the less fossil fuels we burn. Wind turbines don't pollute the air so they help our environment stay clean.
On the other hand they are bad because they kill lots of otherwise useful birds

∙ 13y agoBottom line....they do not want to look at them. Those people believe they chose to live in the country for its landscape and they see the wind turbines as ruining this for them. Because they do not want to see them, they fictionally create things such as 'Wind Turbine Syndrome', which has never....NEVER....been diagnosed by a health physician of any kind in any country. The mind is a powerful tool, and if you hate something enough you can convince yourself that it is harming you.
The only thing these protesters can say regarding the wind turbines that is slightly true is that they cost quite a bit of money and not alot of energy is returned from this investment...but the important thing to note is that the government is not implementing this for it to be a good turnover on investment...it is the investment for a healthier earth with cleaner air for our children to breathe. They say 'put in nuclear plants instead, you get way more energy out of them', well a nuclear plant cost 26 Billion dollars to put in...so what really is the better investment? On top of that, what would you rather have in your community? A few wind turbines or a nuclear plant...hmmm.
