Sweating like a Pig" to denote sweating profusely. This sounds illogical, as pigs have ineffective sweat glands, but the term is allegedly derived from the iron smelting process. After pouring into runners in sand, it is allowed to cool and is seen as resembling a sow and piglets, hence "pig iron". As the pigs cool, the surrounding air reaches its dew point, and beads of moisture form on the surface of the pigs. "Sweating like a pig" indicates that the pig has cooled enough to be moved in safety.
Actually, dogs do technically sweat--but only out of their pads on their paws.
However, I think the expression is actually or originally "sweat like a horse." People may say "like a dog" because they're mixing the animals up because of other expressions like "dog tired," etc., where people have come to feel that the word "dog" just means "very much."
I believe the expression is "work like a dog" rather than "sweat like a dog".
I thought it was "sweat like a pig".

Dogs do have sweat glands that are called apocrine glands. Dogs only produce sweat on areas not covered with fur, such as the nose and paw pads. Dogs also have sweat glands on their noses. Dogs don't sweat everywhere like us humans, but they do have sweat glands and they do sweat ! I hope this helps.

Sort of. Dogs cool themselves off by allowing saliva to evaporate off their tongues, which is exactly like sweating. The only difference is that it's not sweat.

i think people like cats more because u dont have to walk them in the cold or the heat outside, they dont pea or dodo on the fornerture making it smell nasty or leave stains, u dont have to train them, they dont cry, and are kinda less dangeross . plus, cats love affection and are sweet and adorable. i like dogs too....... but im just saying cats r easier to have as pets.
Well, its just like how some people like some kinds of food and others dont. Its the same with dogs.
