Not all Christians get married in churches. I know Christian couples who have gotten married outside in parks and such. It's just a matter of preference to the people who are getting married I guess.
it is good to get married by the church because it rids you from sins and evil temptations your marriage and your partner might have. Also its romantic and besides who wants to get married by a judge and not have a normal breathtaking wedding by the catholic church.
AnswerI remember the moving interview given by the Princess of Wales before her death when she spoke frankly about her marriage to Prince Charles. Diana complained that there were 'three in this marriage', referring to herself, Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, whom Prince Charles had never really stopped loving and who eventually married Charles and became Duchess of Cornwwall after Diana's death.Usually 'three in a marriage' is a bad thing, but in a Christian marriage service, the vows made are made in the sight of God, and hence in any Christian marriage there are always three present - the husband, the wife...and God.
At the marriage service the minister usually says 'that which God has united, let no man divide' - in other words, as the couple make their solemn vows before God and not simply in an office with a registrar or judge, they are much more likely to stay married than divorce, as the solemn vows mean much more. This is borne out in the statistical records; far fewer marriages conducted in church end in divorce.
So, yes, it's nice to get married in church as its a romantic setting and usually the church buildings are stunning. But the main reason is that in every Christian marriage God is there in the midst of the couple, so that in good times he will celebrate with them, but when the going gets tough - and after 34 years of marriage I know it does sometimes (!) - God will also be there as part of that marriage, as guide and comforter.
Wedding always happened in the church because the couple must experience the sacrament of Matrimony. It is important because God himself is the witness in front of the sanctuary. This rite is sacred and you can be accused of sacrilege if you would not respect it.
If you believe in the Christian religion, then you would get married in a church in order to obtain God's blessing for your marriage. However, no one is obligated to get married in a church. Marriage is a civil legal status in the United States and religious officials are permitted by the state governments to perform marriages as long as the participants obtain a civil marriage license. Marriages can be performed by civil officials such as a justice of the peace, chaplain, ship's captain, judges and others.
People choose to get married in a church because it is traditional. Others choose to get married in a church because it is associated with their faith.
