There are many reasons why some people hate wolves but the reasons vary from each individual as well as their life and in some cases, experiences with aggressive wolves.

Most people who detest wolves are merely afraid of them because they are only aware of the animal's body strength and the sharp canines that can piece into their bones but lack the knowledge of the animal as a whole. Some of them are not aware of the facts that wild wolves are actually a lot more afraid of humans than a human can be to them and would much rather stay out of a human's site, attacking them only if they step on their turf or to protect their other pack members, usually their pups.

For most kids, the wolf is a scary animal in their imaginations because of popular bedtime stories like Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs, all of which depict a nasty wolf out for blood. Kid's who've been attacked by large northern breeds of dogs may also develop a sense of fear toward the wild wolves.

In some religious stories like the tale of the so-called "Good Shepherd", the wolf is depicted as a cunning animal trying to pilfer the shepherd's sheeps.

In the case with some farmers in the US, wolves contribute to at least 1% of the loss in their livestocks (which is fairly low compared to the coyotes).

In northern Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, a lot of formerly elk hunters hate wolves because during the early days after the wolves were nearly wiped out in these states, the elk population exploded and the hunters for decades made big money off from these game animals. Some hunters would kill them for sport while others used parts to sell as medicine. But after the wolves' reintroduction, the elk population dropped back to how it was prior to the elimination of the early wolves and many elk hunters are angry because as long as the wolves are available, the hunters are forced to limit on the number of elks that they can kill. Some of these hunters have also turned their rifles on the wolves.

Anti-wolf sentiment is more common in North America and Europe but also goes all the way into Australia, even though there aren't any actual wolves on the continent. In Australia, the wild dingoes (sometimes called the "Australian wolf" due to its close relation to them) is disliked in some areas because unlike their northern wolf cousins, the dingoes are less timid toward humans, making them more dangerous to humans than the wolves (although the dingoes are physically weaker than the wolves) and some of them are known to raid garbage cans around the cities, leaving large messes on the street. However, dingoes are also endangered as a specie due to their increasing population of hybridizing with feral dogs. Dingo-dog hybrids in the wild are likely far more dangerous than pure dingoes because like dogs, they are not afraid of humans and a few hunters are trying to take advantage of this to hunt the hybrids down.

I do not think they are hated.

Some people hate wolves because they are wild, dangerous and roam in packs. Like any wild animal they will try and snatch anything they think they can kill to eat. If left alone and away from humans they need not be hated.

What dog breed can kill a wolf?

No dog in this world can kill a wolve. Wolves are wild and can kill alot of things in there path. People might say some dogs hunt wolves but they dont mean kill them. They mean track them down. Hunt means "Track down." If they said, "They hunt and kill," then that would mean they could kill that kind of animal. So it's obvious, wolves can kill dogs. How are dogs and wolves different?

Wolves howl, dogs bark Wolves are generally taller than dogs Wolves live in packs in the wild, dogs live by themselves Wolves are more intelligent than dogs, but are also more aggressive towards humans. Wolves hunt for prey, dogs usually eat leftovers and are not much of hunters of live prey. Wolves and dogs can interbreed. The German Shepherd is one of the best examples of a wonderful house dog that can be trained to be a guardian dog, has the fierceness of a wolf, and the gentleness/faithfulness of a dog.

No. Wolves and coyotes are related wild dogs so they do not eat wolves plus they eat plant eaters they are meat eaters. Coyotes are normally quite a bit smaller than wolves and the two species compete for food. It is not uncommon for wolves to kill coyotes because of this competition.
