In a solid the particles are in a regular patten and are packed tightly together so it doesn't take the shape of it's container. The particles in liquids and gases are more spread out and able to move and bounce against the sides of the container.

Basically since they are more spread out the can move and change shape.

I'm pretty sure this is right. .

Yes, gas particles are in continuous motion and they collide with the wall of container continuously. Gas molecules have wide gaps and lose bond that's why they easily take the shape of container. However, the container must be closed or else the gas will come out as the particles are far apart and can move freely, exiting the container.

no only a liquid takes the shape of its container. A gas just gets pushed into the container.

What takes a shape of the container solid liquid or gas?

A gas and a liquid will both take the shape of their container. However only a gas will take on the volume of its container as well.

Does a solid need a container to keep its shape?

liquid take shape of the container because the liquid particles stay together but they still more around. solid does not take the shape of the container, because solid is solid. The molecules cannot form the of the container because the molecules a very near each other.Only liquid can take the shape of the container. Thank you.

Is ranch a liquid or a solid?

All liquids take the shape of the container they are in. Ranch takes the shape of the container it is in. Therefore ranch is a liquid.

What state of matter does not take the shape of the container it is in and why?

a LIQUID

What BEST describes the physical state of matter that has a fixed volume but takes the shape of its container- Semi-solid - Solid-- Gas or Liquid?

the state of mater that has a definite shape is solid. solid always have a definite shape. on the other hand liquids and gases do not have a definite shape. they take the shape of their container.

What is the shape of a liquid?

A liquid takes the shape of any solid that it is contained within. For example water within a square container will appear square, but water within a triangular container will appear triangular.

Is a solid like a container?

Yes. More specifically, hail is a solid form of precipitation and is generally either balls or irregular lumps of ice.

What does liquid take the shape of?

Liquids take the shape of their container.

Why does a solid maintain its shape regardless of its container?

A gas is a substance whose molecules are in constant, rapid, random motion. As a result, a gas will spread out and take on the shape and volume of whatever container it is in-whether a jar, a room, or the atmosphere! This is very different from a liquid or a solid. The molecules in a liquid do not move as fast as those in a gas. A liquid can take on the shape of its container but will keep the same volume, no matter what container it is in. The molecules in a solid just vibrate in place. That is why a solid will retain both its shape and its volume.

What type of Matter that has definite shape but no definite volume?

The type of matter with a definite volume but no fixed shape is a liquid. In a gas, there is no definite volume or shape, and in a solid there is a fixed shape and definite volume. A liquid is free to adopt of shape of its container, but its volume is fixed.

Which phases of matter take the shape of its container?

A gas takes on the shape of the container it is in and expands to fill the whole container.

The shape of a liquid depends upon its?
