The way we grow and develop is determined by genes on the chromosomes which we receive from our parents in the egg and sperm.
Individual genes contain 'recipes' for proteins. Many proteins are enzymes which control the making of virtually all of the molecules in the body, including hair, skin, eyes etc. Therefore, because we inherit these 'recipes' from our parents, characteristics such as hair, eye and skin colour will often be the same as our parents.
Chromosomes are paired (each human has 46 chromosomes or 23 pairs) The genes within them are therefore also paired.
If our parents have different traits, for example, if the Mother has ginger hair and the Father has Brown hair, then what is known as the dominant gene will suppress the recessive gene. In this case, the gene which determines ginger hair is recessive and the gene which determines brown hair is dominant. Therefore, the child will have brown hair. In order for the ginger trait to be 'expressed' the pair of genes or alleles must contain two of the recessive ginger genes.
This process is known as heredity. It is through heredity that humans have evolved, by passing on individual traits. Charles Darwin came up with the theory of 'survival of the fittest' In other words, individuals with better traits (eg. faster runners) would survive, whilst the slower runners wouldn't. This meant that only the better traits would be passed on to the next generation, and the species as a whole would gradually become stronger and better adapted to their environment.
The reason why you look like your parents is because of genetic traits. Everybody has genetic traits. Or you can call it your genes. When a women has a baby, the baby has traits that come from your father and your mother. Those genes or genetic traits passes on onto your family. The genes start when your family first started a long time ago. Do you want to know why i know this? I know this because my parents told me how genetic traits work. Also i learned more about this in math class. If you want more information on genetic traits, look it up on the internet or ask your parents about this interesting subject. You will have alot of answrs that will help you. Don't be afriad of asking your parents. It is an easy task to do to ask your parents. Your parents are an reliable resource. Thank you. I'm very sorry that this sentence above the sentence before doesn't make sense. I think this last sentence will not really make any sense. See! Im really weird of making things that doesn't make any sense. Have fun learning!! I hope this will help you! Thank you even though i am only 13 i am very smart!!

if the man comes before the woman the child would resemble him and if the woman comes before the man then the child will resemble her. if the man comes more than the woman then the child would be a male and vice versa. I invite any one, scientist to do their test and examination based on this statement to refute or affirm which ever. we the Muslims have benefited knowledge of this from our prophet Muhammad (saw) who received this knowledge from none other than the one who has created the human being by himself alone without help or partners.
Response:
This is so typical and shows the complete ignorance of this individual. Where do you get this theory from and where if any are your supporting factors. How can you even say this, it truly baffles me at the sight of your ignorance. If you stopped to make a joke and waste our time well then thanks for nothing. In Science, the male posses the XY in his gamete cell so if either one of the two are attached with the Womans X chromosome then the outcome derives from there.
The gene that is in our body is received from them. Their gene tells the body how certain things are to look like, to act, or to function. When you're born, you are born by mixing these genes together, forming a figure(you) which looks, acts, or functions like your parents. This is why if your parents have a genetic disorder, they can inherit it to you.
we all have a hereditary in the chromosomes of our cells which transfers the characteristics of the parents into the offspring.
it's becuse of the genes on the chromosomes tht we got from our parents in the sperm and egg
The general answer is genetics.
