Buddha indicated that the belief in a god is not essential to enlightenment. Furthermore the searching for deity related answers (Is there a god?, What does god want?) which are essentially unanswerable wastes time and effort which would be better used in self improvement.

Buddhism is a philosophy, not a religion. It makes no stance on the existence or absence of a deity; there are huge numbers of Christian Buddhists, just as there as huge numbers of atheist Buddhists.

Buddha himself indicated that if gods exist they have no impact on human progress towards enlightenment.

Some Buddhists don't believe in God because unlike other religions, Buddha is a human being who is an awakened teacher sharing his insights to help sentient human beings end suffering, achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth.

Because there is no proof that immortal, omniscient omnipotent gods exist. Besides the Buddha's quest was to determine why people suffer and how to end it. god has nothing to do with the question or the answer.

Lastly, from my own studies, there are over 3,000 religions that have come and gone, each with their own god or gods. If there was one and only one god why then (1) would he allow there to be so many religions? (2) Why would he reveal himself to only one man at a time at different times and with different commandments and rules? (3) why would most religions be so vastly different to each other if only one god existed?

How the vast majority of Buddhist believe the world was created?

I am not able to answer for all Buddhists traditions but I have been taught that the world was create according to the normal laws of physics that govern planetary creation. There are a lot more Buddhist teachings on how the universe was created and energy systems in general but I'm sure many if not most Buddhists would be happy with the current scientific explanations about the creation of planet earth.

If there is a higher being that created everything what created the higher being?

The answer will be based on your view point. For example, Christians believe that God was always there. The same applies to Muslims and Jews, Hindus and Buddhists. If you are religious, it is likely that you believe that God (or gods) have always been. If not, as many people believe, there is no spiritual realm.

What is the Muslims response to the scientific explanation of the universe?

Muslims actually have it in the quran(our holy book) that the universe came into existence after the big bang, just as it has been proved by scienists in the last century. We, of course, believe that god(Allah) created the universe,i.e. he caused the big bang, he created the creatures in it, and everything else.

What do christians and Islams believe started the universe?

Both Muslims and Christians believe that God or, Allah created the earth. After all, Christianity, Islam and Judaism are the only 3 religions that believe in 1 god and that he created the earth and that he had no beginning but instead has always been. All three religions have a lot in common, and if you are interested, you should research that. It's a very interesting subject.

Do Buddhas care for the environment?

Buddhists do care very much for the environment. The Earth is our mother and we rely on it for everything. Buddhists believe deeply that sentient beings are a part of the world, not masters of it or that we need to rise above it.
