Czar Nicolas II was disliked because he had no idea what his people wanted. Up until WWI he removed himself from the public by isolating himself and his family in their palace. He did nothing to stop the spread of communism, anarchism, and nihilism in his cities and based his decisions on the advice of corrupt and partially insane advisers (Rasputin). During WWI he managed his nation's resources so badly that Russian soldiers often lacked boots and guns. Eventually, his people had enough, and turned to leaders they didn't fully understand (Vladamir Lenin, Joseph Stalin) and killed the entire Russian royal family.
He was a bad ruler. He lived extravagantly while most of the population suffered. He never did anything for the peope, especially when he was sending hundreds of thousands to their deaths in World War I.

If you are asking whether Russians believe in Jesus, some Russians absolutely do. The Russian Orthodox Church is very influential and powerful, and since they are Christians, members of this church see Jesus as a central figure. The Russian Orthodox Church observes all major Christian holy days, including the birth of Jesus. But not all Russians are members of the dominant church. Some Russians are atheists (as they were encouraged to be during the era of Communism), some Russians are other denominations of Christianity, some are Muslim, and some are Jewish.
