The USSR was boycotting the UN at the time and the USSR was trying to take contrel of all of Korea, so the UN took South Korea and the USSR took North Korea.

They didn't want another world war and didn't want another country being taken over.

South Korea was a presidential republic country, much like the U.S, and was an ally of the U.S and the U.N. And the U.N and western powers appposed of communist expansion.

Communist aggression led UN Forces to battle the forces of Communism and held the line against them at the 38th Parallel, which still exists today.

To stop the advance from North Korea in to the democratic south Korea.

America condemned North Korea as an aggressor in front of the UN Security Council. When the USSR walked out in protest, America called for the vote, and carried the resolution. The UN then backed the US to end NK aggression.
