Labor unions were formed to improve working conditions, reduce hours, stop child labor, and rate of pay. Employers did not care about the safety of their workers, factory workers would be locked in factories that were fire traps. Workers were forced to work long hours with no days off. Young children were hired to do dangerous work because of their small size. Workers made pennies an hour.

To negotiate terms of hours, rates, and etc.
They wanted better pay and working conditions. These working people struggled for a long period of time and it was time for them to take a stand. If they wouldn't have, then Americas working system would not be what it is today

they joined the labor union because they were not getting enough money to feed there family and pay for food. the workers were only getting $10 a week for all the hard work they do, working 12 hours a day and also putting there life in danger. this made many workers very angery and thought they deserve a raise.
