Tiesto (Trance artist)- God Father of Techno. Techno is HUGE and I mean HUGE in EVERY COUNTRY BUT THE US. If you havent heard of Tiesto - Armin - Bad Boy Bill - Mathew Dear - …Then Im sorry - your living under a rock....called the USA. bro ur answer sucks the question is When did techno music first become popular????? I'd say in the 90s along with house. By the wat Tiesto and AVB is more trance I think. Cheeeeeers :) Techno as a musical genre became popular during the late 80's when the Chicago and Detroit techno scene opened up into the world. If you are asking when electronic music became popular, I would probably say early 70's when the disco era was beginning. Of course, all popular music incorporates some form of 'techno' stylization now.
Music was always popular all over the world. If it's tribal music, religious music, or folk songs. In the old testament music is mentioned many times (king David for instance …is known for his musical abilities). Amazingly, those types of music are still weaved in modern music today. Bob Dylan, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny, Marbin, Leonard Cohen, and Paul Simon, are just a few examples for musicians that idolize elements from old music.
Classical music wasn't as you know it today. Today we have multiple genres spanning the entire music scene of the world. Several centuries ago Classical music was simply music…. There was no disparity between what was classical and what was not. Nearly everything of the time was classical therefore it became popular from its inception. In terms of instrumental classical music, that took off at the demise of the Baroque Period and beginning of the Classical period. Rising middle-class wages allowed for a wider range of audience in virtuoso performances and public orchestras. Music was a sign of prestige and therefore those who could not perform at least attended. It was one of the primary sources of entertainment besides plays. Popularity for classical music has dwindled since the 19th century. And there is little hope it will be revived through the few neo-classical artists remaining.
Rap music first hit the mainstream in 1979 when The Sugarhill Gang dropped "Rapper's Delight" over the top of the beat to "Good Times" by Chic. At that time Chic was one of th…e more popular groups out and "Good Times" their most popular song. Wonder Mike, Master Gee, and Big Bank Hank, had the whole nation rapping along with their melodic rendition. Later, in 1985, Run DMC affectively changed the hip hop audience forever when they recorded a remake of the Aerosmith hit "Walk This Way", which crossed over and became rap music's first multi-platinum smash. The industry has not been the same since with crossover and mass appeal beyond any of the pioneer's wildest imaginations. This answer is a bit misleading, though. There was a rap explosion in 1989-90-- that is when it became a true mainstream genre. Although rap existed in 1979, it was not popular as a genre.
The late 1950s/early 1960s.
Because it's awesome? It also comes with free booze, drugs, and women. How would that NOT become popular?

The "Pop" in the term "Pop Music" is a shortening of the word Popular - pop music is just a "Groovy" way of saying popular music. So your question is really "How did popula…r music become popular and when did it become popular?" which is kinda funny :) But the term or phrase "Pop Music" became widely used in the 50s, largely linked to the growth of rock'n'roll, and "Pop Art", during a period of growing optimism following the depression.
Madrigalisms are devices used in madrigals to enhance or portray the text. They can also be referred to as text paintings or imitations. For example, if a word in the text tal…ks about flying a musical passage will have notes running up. If the text says alone, only one voice will sing. If there is speak of darkness the scoring will generally be low. This became popular in music history during the main output of madrigals: 16th century mainly around the years 1540 to a little after the turn of the century where the Baroque period started.
You do know that the perm pop is an abbreviated form of the word popular, right? Pop music is popular by definition, that's what the word means. Pop music as we know it today …can be traced back to the 1950's. In earlier decades, although there did exist popular forms of music, we would not recognize much similarity to what is known today as pop music. For an early example of pop music you have to go back to singers such as Rosemary Clooney.
when people did not have musical instoments they sang and made musicals popular in the year 1872
