Depends on who actually moved from Europe and when, if it was the Irish, it was because a nematode (worm) plague killed their potato crops and they had to leave to avoid starving, if it was the Italians, a lot of the migrated after world war one and after world war 2, a lot of europeans left europe to live in a more igualitarian society (without nobles and kings), but it actually depends on the time in history and the nationality of the people.
