Gandhi insisted on spinning his own cloth for multiple reasons. The first reason is to defy the British rules, what said that Indians must buy British products, so Gandhi defied this rule, as part of his acts of Civil Disobedience. I also believe that he wanted to show the British that he wasn't afraid to defy them in every aspect of life, including clothing. The second reason is that the burning of the clothes symbolized a conscious decision to throw off the most visible sign of that slavery and to re-embrace their true selves as Indians, rather than British pawns.
Because he wanted to prove to everyone he won't change .
