Hitler blamed the Jews for many problems happening in Germany at the time, including economic problems, the loss of WWI, and many others so that he could gain power in a country that was struggling. He also had serious racism problems, and might have been affected mentally. The Jewish people did nothing. Some say that he observed Jewish people faring well while he was a poor young man trying to become a famous artist in Vienna, Austria, or had extreme hatred for his Jewish father and wanted revenge.

He believed they were inferior.

Answer Because they were a significant minority with a high level of education and who were important in many areas including finance, the arts, science and medicine. Hitler was a loser, jealous of the success of Jews as an ethnic group. Jews were Hitler's vehicle to success, since he could pass all the blame for Germany's loss in WWI and subsequent political upheavals and economic crises on to them.

Anti-semitism had been for centuries an established and growing phenomenon in the culture of Europe. The Catholic Church played a large role in demonizing the Jews; governments and societies across Europe used this pattern of demonization to blame the Jews for whatever went wrong, particularly in harsh economic times. Hitler took this history of embedded racial prejudice all the way to its horrible conclusion

He also needed a scapegoat to explain the troubles Germany had after the Treaty of Versailles that would justify his taking unprecedented power. He also genuinely believed that the Jews (among others like blacks, gypsies, etc.) were racially inferior and that they had a secret organization that was ruling the world's economies. This belief was very common in his native Austria for generations before he was even born.

Probably the most practical reason he singled them out was because they were already mistrusted by Christian Germans, they were easy to identify and isolate, and nobody in the rest of world cared much about them.

Historians today still debate the reasons for the Nazi hate for Jews, as there are many factors that might have played a role. But all seem to point to:

1. Conflicts between Christianity and Judaism which helped create an atmosphere of anti-Semitism in Europe.

2. Hitler spent a part of his youth in Vienna, Austria, where anti-Semitism was wide spread

3. At the time when World War 1 broke out, a majority of financial institutions were controlled by Jewish people. Hitler blamed the loss of the war on these banks and companies. He felt that the war was lost because of Jewish actions against the German people. Many Germans could not believe that they lost the war for any other reason.

4. Hitler believed that the Jewish people had a conspiracy to control the world.

5. Hitler and many Nazis believed in the superiority of the Aryan (German) race and that Jews were inferior to such an extent that they were almost non-human in his eyes. He felt that he would be doing the world a favor by wiping out the Jewish race.
