A:This must be a well-hidden secret about Martin Luther. He did write to encourage the burning of the synagogues, but said that by making this call he had done his duty and need do no more. In the Christian culture of his time, this call was not exceptional.

The Nazis needed a place to "dispose" of the bodies. There was not quite enough room for 6 million bodies. It was also a tactic to lessen the Jews called "dehumanization." Other Jews in the camp were forced to put the bodies in the furnaces shortly after they were gassed by a chemical called zyclon-b, a more "sufficient" way of killing the Jewish people instead of shooting them in their heads.
