this is because Muslims believe that Prophet Lut (AS)'s people are where the dead sea is and God sent them punishment because they were corrupt and immoral. According to the Qur'an God told an angel to lift the peice of land up till the seven heavens and then drop it. This is a place of puishment so Muslims would obviously not want to visit a place which is evident of God's Mercy.
