It doesn't. It has many, and its because there used to be a glacier there. The whole of Scandinavia was a glacier as a matter of fact. Then some thousand years ago, it started to pull back and melt and voila, fjords were created by the erosion.

Also, I think God might have wanted us to have some tourist attractions to fall back on when our oil supplies run out:)

There are waterfalls because water travels from the highest elevation to the lowest elevation via gravity. Waterfalls tend to be the path of least resistance as the water moves downward.
