Some modern cars like the maxima even have four O2 sensors. The reason some cars have more than one O2 sensor is to be able to moniter the level of unburnt hydrocarbons that are present before the catalytic converter and the level present after the catalytic converter, this is useful for determining how efficient the catylytic converter is at burning off these unburnt hydrocarbons present in the exhaust gases. The computer is also able to use the information from multiple O2 sensors to get a clear reading of the engines air to fuel ratio so it can deliver a more precise amount of fuel to the engine.
They are all threaded into the exhaust system at various points.
remove the screws which are hard to get to.
Any Prizm or Corolla auto trans from 93 to 97. The 1.6 or the 1.8 housings are all the same. Just make sure if it is a 3 or 4 spd auto. It is a 6 hour job.

Possible causes: * dead battery * no fuel in the gas tank * blocked fuel filter * non functioning fuel pump * defective spark plugs * engine timing (needs tune-up)
There are two of them.
There are two.
4. Two before the cats and two after.
Two, one in fron of the catalytic convertor and one behind it.
Four
There are 2 oxygen sensors.1 is in front of the catalytic coverter and 1 is located behind the coverter
the part no. are 64,2387,79856
there are two 02 sensors on a 97 they are easy to replace,i have seen these sensors for around 90$ which is high for an 02 sensor but can easily be done yourself, if you can find a low mileage one in a junk yard you could do it for a few dollars
on a 3.5, there are 4. 2 are right after the manifold, and 2 are after the pre-cats.
Lincoln Mark 8s 96 and newer have 4 Oxygen sensors, two per bank of cylinders (Two on the drivers side, two on the passenger side) one before the catalytic converter and one after the catalytic converter.
There are a total of four Oxygen Sensors: one in each exhaust manifold near the motor, and one on either side (upstream & downstream) of the catalytic converter.
