Actually the question assumes facts incorrectly. Most Catholics do not receive these two sacraments together. Part of the challenge is logistical-only a Bishop can confirm a catholic while ordinary priests can perform first eucharist.
The majority of Catholics are born into the church and the normal process is to have First Eucharist and Confirmation as separate events years apart.
