Most Swiss aren't actually against minarets or the Islamic religion.
The vote was more like a lighting rod for serveral different kinds of problems.
Like being displeased with the current policy on foreigners which seems like a drive through, handing out Swiss passports and money for free. Another often stated argument was that as long as christians aren't allowed to build churches in Islamic countries, there is no need to further allow minarets.
Also be aware that Switzerland becomes more and more secular and most youger people are only christian on paper and don't practice the religion at all.
The Swiss people who voted for banning mosque minarets feel that these minarets are like military rockets and are symbols of terrorism. It is an act of media propaganda and racism campaign against Islam otherwise how could you explain why this feeling against Islamic symbols arise nowadays and never happened before.
i minaret represents a mosque built by a private benefactor 2 minarets show a mosque built by a community 4 minarets adorn a mosque built by the sultan (pre-1923 in Turkey) 6 minarets means you are looking at the Blue Mosque in Istanbul 7 minarets means you are in front of the mosque at Mecca
It has 6 minarets because when Sultan directed his architect to make gold (altin) minarets, it was misunderstood as six (alti) minarets. The Haram Mosque in Mecca also had 6 minarets and it is the holiest in the world. So Sultan sent his architect to add a seventh to the Haram Mosque.
